In ancient times, general Hannibal (Victor Mature) and his men are crossing the Alps to invade and conquer Rome when they encounter a Roman contingent. After a fierce battle, they capture Sylvia (Rita Gam), the beautiful niece of a powerful Roman senator, and she and Hannibal begin a torrid affair. His troops, meanwhile, steadily advance on the city. Will Hannibal's war machine succeed in its siege, or will the general be too distracted by his love to fulfill his duty as a leader?

Audience Member good sword n sandal film Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible. A half-assed story about an irresponsible, uncharismatic general protecting a lady over the life of his soldier in the most idiotic ways ever. I was cheering at the scene when Hannibal is challenged to a duel and has the possibility of actually dying. When he did not, I was utterly disappointed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I never had any interest in these movies, I watched this one first and loved all of them, te suspence and thriller. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member It was more like a documentary than a movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this when it came out. The high point was when one of the soldiers in the cold cold alps was pushed in the chest and blood poured out his mouth. I'd really have to see this again to see if it is any good. As I recall the second half of it had an awful lot of montage sequences. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Hannibal has hands down some of the worst sword fighting and large scale action scenes that I have ever seen on film. It is strange, cause the movie itself looks ok for when it was made, but it is just pretty lame, heck the first 25 minutes is just Hannibals army trying to cross the alps with soldiers sporadically falling off in what can only be said the be incredibly bad stunt work as well. Then you have the elephants, which you don't even want to let me get started on. Oh, and then there is the fighting of the men in purple and green wrestling trunks, who look like they just grabbed a bunch of over weight accountants and told them to slap each other around for 5 minutes. So yeah, overall this is an incredibly underwhelming poorly filmed want to be epic, and it was EPIC, as in EPIC FAIL, ha ha ha, I am so funny.
