Will Self London Evening Standard An unsparing depiction of the ugly violence surrounding the beautiful game, The Football Factory uses jagged camera work and a pumpedup soundtrack to create a strangely seductive choreography of fists, boots and bricks on flesh. Jan 9, 2018 Full Review Antonia Quirke London Evening Standard Football Factory isn't self-consciously cool; it has a base, wild energy that will stay with you. Dec 14, 2017 Full Review Empire Magazine Rated: 4/5 May 29, 2004 Full Review Kaleem Aftab The List The trouble is that the film does not do enough to endear us to Tommy or to his moronic friends. Meanwhile, the simplistic story meanders through several clichéd structural devices. Rated: 2/5 Apr 18, 2019 Full Review Dragan Antulov Draxblog Movie Reviews excellent performers can't compensate for the film's biggest problem - lack of originality Rated: 4/10 Jul 21, 2005 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Filmmaker Love brings these characters to vivid life, but they're all so hateful, racist and idiotic that we don't like them at all! Gareth D A proper taste of England, not the nice part. Portrays the era very well and classic Danny Dyer. Love it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/07/24 Full Review Jack R A great insight on English football hooligans. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Corey M A great vehicle for Danny Dyer's only talent of playing his glorious self. If you've ever been around a hooligan gang you'll know this film hits the nail on the head of just how depressing and meaningless the violence is. How the men that commit said violence feel depressed and meaningless enough that this is all they have. Ultimately it could have a better ending and be shot more creatively, particularly during the slow-mo fight scenes which would have had more resonance had they been shot up close and fast which is exactly how these football fights are as you're always aware the police are just around the corner. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Lionel M Excellent film, extremely accurate depiction, although I never saw any of the lads with a flare gun, but that apart, pretty much spot on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/22 Full Review Audience Member Although it was packed with violence, there was a lack of fights and football which led to it feeling quite boring. If the lack of fights and football was to focus on the characters more and develop them, it was done poorly. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Brutal is one way to describe this film. This is how a lot of the world views soccer hooligans. Petty intense fans for a mostly non-contact sport. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
