SkyRo P The Breed is a 2006 horror movie about a group of people who stumble onto an isolated island, only to be hunted by a pack of genetically modified killer dogs. The premise alone is pretty out there, and the execution doesn’t do it any favors. Honestly, the movie is ridiculous — not in a fun, campy way, but in a “how did this get made?” kind of way. What surprises me the most is the cast. It stars some actors who have gone on to have really successful careers, which makes this film feel like an early-career misstep they were lucky to move past. For example, Michelle Rodriguez, who plays one of the central characters, would later become a household name thanks to the Fast & Furious franchise. Even in this film, though her character gets injured and suffers a lot, she still manages to hold her own. One thing I actually appreciated was that the filmmakers used real dogs instead of relying on CGI. It gives the movie a more grounded feel, but at the same time, it’s hard to buy into the threat — because let’s be honest, real dogs just aren’t that terrifying in this context. The idea that they could be this organized and lethal is a tough sell. Taryn Manning also appears in the film, but her character feels underdeveloped and ultimately forgettable. And as for the male cast, most of them didn’t go on to have huge careers, with the exception of Hill Harper, who later found solid success with The Good Doctor. Overall, The Breed is more corny than creepy. It tries to be a horror film, but it ends up feeling more dumb than scary. The plot is unrealistic, the tone is all over the place, and the whole experience is just kind of forgettable. Unless you’re a die-hard fan of one of the actors or into watching bad horror movies for fun, I wouldn’t recommend it. OK it's that kind of movie. Completely unbelievable in today's world. Those people just plain stupid this is what you don't do to survive. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/07/24 Full Review Fernando N One of the best killing dogs movie out there. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was good had never heard of this of movie it so happen to pop up on my movies on YouTube Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review don s Pretty abysmal horror, even for low budget. Five friends travel by plane to an island where a pair of brothers amongst them inherited a cabin. The island was one home to a company that purportedly bred and trained seeing eye dogs. Turns out that was untrue, and the battle trained dogs have overrun the island. Piss poor effects and bad acting rule the day in this stinker.
