David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Fairly worthless from start to finish... Rated: 1/4 Jul 8, 2018 Full Review Pablo Villaça Cinema em Cena Praticamente uma refilmagem de Cujo com leões e com um roteiro infinitamente mais idiota. Rated: 1/5 Apr 15, 2007 Full Review David Cornelius eFilmCritic.com Prey is fifty kinds of obnoxious, loud and dreary, at times flat out unwatchable. Rated: 1/5 Feb 5, 2007 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com overwrought and only vaguely insulting Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 31, 2007 Full Review The Foywonder Dread Central Overall, there's really nothing wrong with the directing, the writing, or even the acting...The only knock against Prey is that it's a very conventional thriller that's perfectly watchable, yet never particularly engaging Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 25, 2007 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com I've always been a sucker for Animals Attack! movies, and this one manages to be a half-decent time-waster, if only in a 'rainy matinee' sort of way. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Kinda predictable but a good time and suspensful Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I'll just say this "based on a true story"? No one is that stupid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It was okay. The acting wasn't all the convincing but the attacks were rather interesting and suspenseful. The ending was good except for that fact that *SPOILER* the stepmom survives when clearly she shouldn't have. That was kind of ridiculous. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member There's no fun in watching this piece of crap, f*ck the director and the characters who do nothing except screaming the whole time which became very annoying and disturbing throughout the film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member More of a drama than anything else, the suspense factor fails and the movie is a total snoozefest. The plot starts out simple enough; a rich man takes his family along to Africa with him for a vacation. It's here where the 'drama' part of the movie starts, as it's revealed that the mother is actually a step mother to the two kids and to make it 'better' (worse), the daughter resents the step mother. The mother and the two kids are seen going on a safari to view the local wildlife, which is where the premise of the movie begins. The tour guide goes off roading, and the son soon remarks that he has to go. So what do you do in the middle of Africa? Why, you leave the safety of a car, of course! Lions approach the boy and the ranger when they've settled on a spot. Long story short: the boy lives and the ranger is killed outside of the car. Trapped inside the car, they try to drive away , but discovered the ranger took the keys with him and they're now outside. It's here that all logic escapes the movie completely. Anyone older than 10 has heard of hotwiring, but not apparently this family. The car also does not have a radio, and it's later found out that the only water in the car is a half-filled water bottle. It takes a special kind of stupid to go out into the African savannah with only that much water. (Side note, despite the boy needing to go out in the first place and subsequently being trapped in the car for two days, none of them ever need to relieve themselves. That's this movie's logic for you.) During the first night, it rains. The characters began to annoy me the most beginning here. The boy wakes up in the middle of the right and being thirsty, has the genius idea to drink the rainwater. Like I said, genius. The step-mother and daughter also awake and do the exact same thing. Apparently, stupidity is contagious. They find the glare of the keys the next day and with more movie logic, apparently the screen of a video camera magically removes any and all glare. The mother manages to retrieve the keys and then proceeds to drive like a bat straight out of hell instead of backtracking. Apparently with this movie's logic, to drive a car, you must floor the gas pedal. By now, the movie is utterly laughable with all of its' plot holes. I'll spare you the rest, and just summarize: meet duo of local poachers, lion rips through window (unharmed too!), meet dad, blow up truck (and apparently be totally fine despite being less than 3 feet away). One good point of the movie: they used real lions. Doesn't get much better than that. However, the lions are showered and coated in wave after wave of mediocrity and plot holes that makes this movie a total bore. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
