TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Oct 7 Prey is a horror film that feels like it was thrown together on a whim, more as an exercise in producing content than crafting a compelling story. At its core, it reminds me a little of Uncaged, except here the threat is a literal creature rather than a person transforming. Unfortunately, that small distinction doesn’t save the film from feeling derivative and shallow. If you approach it as a tongue-in-cheek, joke horror movie, it might pass as a mildly entertaining, easy watch. The problem is, it’s clearly intended to be frightening, and that’s where it collapses completely. The screenplay is chaotic and backward, lacking logic, cohesion, or any sense of credibility. Characters make choices that defy sense, and the plot meanders without tension or purpose. The direction does little to ground the film. The director seems scattered, trying to juggle multiple elements without focusing on what could have actually made the movie work. Instead, the narrative bounces between unnecessary subplots and overextended sequences, ultimately failing to deliver any genuine suspense or horror. The acting doesn’t help the situation either. Performances are flat, unconvincing, and at times, unintentionally comedic. By the time the story reaches its conclusion — which is as ridiculous as it is underwhelming — it’s hard to care about what’s happening on screen. Overall, Prey is a complete misfire. The poster may look intriguing and give off an icy, suspenseful vibe, but the movie itself doesn’t live up to that promise. For those seeking a horror experience, it’s a waste of time — better to skip it entirely unless you want a film to laugh at rather than be scared by. La regia è a dir poco scandaloso, tutte le sequenze di azione sono orribili e girate in maniera ridicola; per di più alcuni passaggi sono totalmente senza senso e davvero non ce n'era bisogno.
