Audience Member Born to Fight (Gerd ma lui) is a 2004 Thai action film choreographed, directed and written by Panna Rittikrai. Many of the actors in Born to Fight were Thai national athletes. The film is a remake of Panna's 1984 film of the same title. It stars Chupong Changprung, Nappon Gomarachun, Santisuk Promsiri, Piyapong Piew-on, Somluck Kamsing and Kessarin Ektawatkul. It was produced by Baa-ram-ewe. It was distributed by Sahamongkol Film International. Vision wrote: "Random over-the-top martial arts shot to a throbbing techno soundtrack. Panna tries to make Police Story as you see the burning truck boulder itself through a built-up village destroying everything in it's site. Action packed at every corner. The villagers are gymnastically talented. I guess everyone was born to fight. A little too much with the action and too less with the martial arts. A little too much with the slow motion. Panna tried his best but the problem is he likes to repeat his stunt teams stunts in every movie three or four times. Its very exhausting but I do admire most of the stunts. Chupong Changprung has a mouth on him and some skills. Unintentionally hilarious. Same as Somluck Kamsing. Admire the Thai explosions. This film used them when needed and it made sense this time. Two and a half fries!" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Audience Member Tony Jaa wannabe, campy, super-action thai flick. That does sound like a negative description however the stunts were so amazing and computer graphic free that the movie is entertaining for the stunts alone. The burning stick fight scene was cool i diont know how they didn't burn the shit out of eachother while filming it. unfortunatly someone stepped up to the table with some extremely terrible suggestions(kicking a soccerball at least 100ft into a watchtower and knocking the enemy to his death)and just about ruined this whole movie for me and led to me describing it as campy. If you want to see some no ropes attached no computer needed stunts then this movie pulls it off great, watch out for some cheesy characters though. I'f you want me to suggest a good rope free action flick then check out ong bak or the protector and you wont be dissapointed all around. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member HOLY CRAP! An action scene started half way through the movie and LASTED THE REST OF THE FILM!!!! I can't believe stuntmen didn't die making this film. The same plot as Rambo IV, but not quite as good. But funnier to be sure. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Nonsense and ludicrously patriottic like only athai flicks manage to be. Obviously there is Muay Tai, this time mixed with a plethora of athletic disciplines put to good profit fighting undetermined terrorist. From callistenics to soccer, yes, soccer. Hilarious. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member My favorite Thai action film. The stunts, and the way they are depicted are breath taking and the set up to the huge action set piece is excellent. Its simple but effective Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Extreme fight scenes Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
