Anton Bitel Little White Lies Serially raping his 'wife' and shooting, stabbing and clubbing his comrades at arms, he is on a nihilistic, narcissistic dash upwards that is simultaneously a race downwards, and he brings near everyone whom he encounters crashing with him. acsdoug D I'm a fan of the gangster genre, but even I have to admit there's not a lot going on here. Sure, there's plenty of violence and blood, but I found the story rather weak. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/23 Full Review Audience Member One of Takashi Miike's more mature and serious offerings that only serves to prove he is a formidable force when he is in the directors chair! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm never too interested in remakes or movies based on true events. This movie happens to be both, but it also happens to be awesome. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Takashi Miike is such a prolific filmmaker that he has probably directed more films than most people have seen. So props to him that most of his films still maintain entertainment value even though he cranks them out like a goddamn movie factory. While this is nowhere near the Yakuza masterpiece that 'Ichi The Killer' was, it's still an involving portrait of a sadistic criminal. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It's not really a movie, its a series of rape sequences followed by some violent outbursts by angry Japanese men. I don't think I've ever seen a more ruthless protagonist than Rikuo Ishimatsu, not really in a cool way, but in a ultra entertaining way. This man's only goal in life is to beat people up and rape women and maybe eat some rice 'n' noodles in between. I could enjoy it on some depraved level, but its not the violent extravaganza it was built up to be. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member As Miike showed with 13 Assassins, this guy really knows how to do a remake. A more brutal look at a sociopathic yakuza destroying his own life and others, this film ranks up there with Miike's best. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
