Audience Member I was never immersed in skateboarding or the skater culture but I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary covering two decades of street skating and the major players in this industry. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member There was obviously some pretty awesome shit in this film, but I was mainly bored throughout the 10 minutes I watched. I assume it's a good film, but it's not for me, since I don't even care who this guy is. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member What an inspiring character! Not that it's a surprise, seeing as me and my friends spent every spare minute of our youth skating to what seems the tune of this man. In hindsight it looks to me like Rocco & World Industries was kind of like the Tony Wilson & Factory Records of early 1990s skateboard culture. Oh and the documentary is good too. It's surprising how interesting the story of this slice of the skateboard industry is (almost) even without any tricks. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent portrait of the rise and fall of World Industries and its effect on the skating industry. What's more, the film explains how one man (Rodney Mullen) completely altered and, resurrected, the entire declining skate industry by simply re-shaping the skate deck and adapting freestyle tricks to street skating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I love documentaries about pop culture, and this one is great! Rodney Mullen is inspiring, and it's cool to see the beginnings of a mainstream industry. Funny how Rocco became what he faulted Powell and Peralta for, though, but uses lame excuses to justify it all. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I've had the pleasure of working with most of the people involved with World, I and I take great pride in that. Hill did a great job getting as much commentary as he could out of all of these folks. I'm sure that it was a pain in the ass gathering info! The actual film making was decent, but sometimes it was a little hard to follow. The cartoons that bridged that segments were a nice touch. This doc is a must for anyone who's a fan of popular culture, and skateboarding as we know it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
