Joe Neumaier New York Daily News Crowe's lumbering presence is a relief from all the gothic heaviness, but director John Polson's elliptical storytelling style quickly becomes an irritant. Rated: 1/4 Dec 11, 2009 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times A movie undone by its formulaic plot conventions, and its need to give its star more screen time than his characters merits. Rated: 2/5 Dec 11, 2009 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post Crowe, who spends the movie trudging along ... and waxing lyrical about pain and pleasure, must be hoping no one sees this mawkish blunder. He will probably get his wish. Rated: 0.5/4 Dec 11, 2009 Full Review Nora Lee Mandel Maven's Nest Based on less ambiguous YA novel , the teens drive film and portrayals of damaged youth are tense and sympathetic, though their behavior veers too sharply to pathological. Rated: 7/10 Jan 2, 2016 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews An arty psychological thriller that never catches fire as either a serial killer flick or character study. Leo S A very good psichological thriller view a nice plot twist at the end. A little like Twin Peaks epsode. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Go watch Jon Polson in The Dry. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Joel C This is a beautifully made film about a disturbing part of human nature. There's just a constant eerie vibe and tense atmosphere not knowing what is going to happen. The casting was spot on and the film is well directed, I haven't seen a film unearth some of the temptation of a sociopath as in this, as subtle as it may be. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/11/21 Full Review Audience Member A good movie! A very well slow burn drama! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It built up, build up and then went nowhere. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
