Corey J it was cute. I personally found that there was very little chemistry between the main characters until more then halfway through. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Ron T This Indie gem is remarkable. It isn't perfect but it has the ability to evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review andy n Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful movie! Kind, bright, full of love and amazing care. A bit could have been made the dialogues clearer (although this may be a translation inaccuracy: I looked not in English). Maybe the intensity of the conflict is not yet enough. But still love wins! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful cinematography and a spot-on soundtrack bring this amazingly written story to life. The screenplay is very human and relatable, and proves the gay genre of movies can also have a happy ending , we forgive the flaws of some of the casting, but the main duo (portrayed by Trevor Wright and Brad Rowe) outshines the whole picture. This kind of cinema proves that indie flicks will always surpass even the greatest of blockbusters. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review marcelo f This is certainly a good movie to watch, both for the story on family issues both in the deconstruction of the character Zach. The development of the characters makes you cling and hope for a happy ending, and that's exactly what we have at the end of the film. You come across family feelings several times and also have a deconstruction of a character who was designed to be the young straight man in the film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Continuing my Pride month marathon I finally got around to this splendid gay film after lots of reccomendations. Centering around a young man named Zach who begins hanging out with his best friends gay brother played by hunky Brad Rowe (Billy's Hollywood screen kiss). At first the two bond over surfing but it soon becomes something more as Zach has to deal with not only the effect of his relationship but the courage to pursue the life he wants. There's really nothing new here but it's done very well. The film is beautifully shot with solid chemistry from its leads and the story has a genuine, relatable feel due to the elevated, confident direction. 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jim Emerson Chicago Sun-Times A coming-out, coming-of-age movie that is mediocre and very well-intentioned. Rated: 2/4 Apr 4, 2008 Full Review Sid Smith Chicago Tribune Shelter may only be shoreline deep, and its ending fanciful, but the film captures the beauty, thrill and ache of young love and extracts a casual joy out of the process. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 3, 2008 Full Review Wesley Morris Boston Globe Shelter is a gay movie like other American gay movies. Boy meets boy. Boy comes out. Boys fight opposition. Opposition caves. If there's life beyond the closet, too few movies know it exists. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 28, 2008 Full Review Amanda Jane Stern Film Inquiry At the end of the day, Shelter is a movie that just makes you happy. It's the kind of film you watch when you want something that is wholesome, but not chaste, that will end happy. Feb 25, 2020 Full Review Dave White Movies.com Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 4, 2011 Full Review James Wegg JWR At the epicenter of this tale is Zach (Trevor Wright is always a pleasure to watch but the measure of his acting talent requires a script with more scope to reveal his depth).
