After 12 years of bucolic bliss, Mr. Fox (George Clooney) breaks a promise to his wife (Meryl Streep) and raids the farms of their human neighbors, Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Giving in to his animal instincts endangers not only his marriage but also the lives of his family and their animal friends. "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is a 2009 animated film directed by Wes Anderson. It is based on Roald Dahl book. Both Anderson's distinct directing style and Dahl's unique charm shine in this adaptation. It keeps Wes Anderson love of symmetrical shots, long takes and dry sense of humor. It likewise incorporates the unique world with grounded yet outrageous characters. This film has a distinct animation style. If you take any still frame from this movie, you will immediately be able to recognize what film it is from. The animation is a distinct wabi sabi, finding beauty in imperfection. Everything is just a little bit off. It is like they are doing stop motion with taxidermized animals. The voice acting is stacked with celebrities. But they are not cast simply for their star power, all the voices fit their animal counterpart. Not all the comedy works, Anderson and Dahl have a very distinct sense of humor. Sometimes those long pauses lead to hilarious timing, other times it is just an awkward pause. A lot of the jokes are just pointing out how strange a situation is. Some characters and plot points seem tacked on. There's a part where all the characters need to utilize their talents, and I don't know who half of them are. But as a whole, this really is a fantastic film. I admire how unique the presentation is, and how creative the characters are. This film gets a 7- StarFox.

I love this movie. The visuals, the endearment from the characters, the ARCS oh boy the character arcs in this movie are SO SO AMAZING. Anderson makes you feel and care for the characters from square one which is a supremely difficult task to do (most directors/writers instead employ making them dislikable because it's way easier). The visuals are top notch and super original which deserves + 1 star on its own so really this movie gets a 11/10 from me.
