Barry Thomas (Jonathan Silverman) lives an unexciting life as an office worker at a science lab, where he has fallen in love with a brilliant, attractive young scientist named Lisa Fredericks (Helen Slater). Barry is devastated when he witnesses Lisa's murder in the office parking lot. Silverman and Slater are appealing protagonists, and it's amusing to watch the icy physicist melt as she begins to comprehend the plot and warm to nerdy-but-nice Thomas (aspects of this office bear a passing resemblance to Fox series Herman's Head).

12: 01 will probably shock the uninformed. It is Groundhog Day with different faces and plot. What's even more shocking is they were both released in the same year. One look at the wiki page of this movie confirms my suspicion that there was a legal tussle between the makers of this film and that one- It is shocking how similar the premise is. Having said that this is a decent enough film, if somewhat unremarkable. The same "time repeats itself" concept applies here and the only difference is this is a love story where the lady is shot and the lead must relive this everyday or do something about it. The lead actor is alright, he looks similar to David "Ross" Schwimmer of friends and the lead actress is beautiful. Jeremy Piven also co- stars, makes you wonder how long he's been in the game in Hollywood. (Groundhog day for television? You decide).
