Alfred K I was impressed with VINYAN, but must also say it's not the typical horror move most people would come to expect. It is a very dark look at how a family might act after the loss of their child. By not emotionally accepting the loss of her son, the mother is driven by irrational feelings that her son is still alive & will do anything to find him. The father agrees to search for him too just to appease his wife, thinking that she'll come to her senses in time, however, she never does. The acting was outstanding by the main characters in the movie, & the cinematography was breathtaking. I would be careful who I'd recommend the movie to. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Audience Member Well intentioned but creepy without being compelling Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Frances H Very interesting in a weird sort of way. Marriages frequently fall apart when a child dies and it is truly a long dark journey through grief and guilt that tears people apart. But what makes this film extraordinary is the setting and great cinematography, plus good performances. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/18 Full Review ryan s 0.5/5. Vinyan has some neat cinematography, but the movie is boring A F. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Ooo this genre is often so blah (searching for a missing child in a foreign place) but I actually like this one. It has a lot of beautiful imagery and a lot of blurring realities. Didn't really feel very much for anyone involved though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member High expectations, huge disappointment. The acting was great, the story was boring as hell. Advertised as terrifying - real life situaton scary, not Horror scary Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Parkinson Empire Magazine Horrific and harrowing but the narrative arc could leave the audience unmoved. Rated: 2/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review David Jenkins Time Out A menacing pseudo-horror thriller with arty aspirations. Rated: 3/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Andrew Pulver Guardian Du Welz never manages to generate enough menace - this is no Apocalypse Now. Rated: 2/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Jamie McLeish Film4 A remorselessly grim but deeply affecting psychological horror that's likely to bitterly divide its audience. Not for the faint-hearted, Vinyan is a pitch-black, poetic exploration of the nightmare of losing a child. Rated: 4/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Cosmo Landesman Sunday Times (UK) Vinyan is a fine example of art-house horror. It's rich in spooky atmospherics, but it's not really scary. Rated: 2/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures Without resorting to cheap frights or bogeymen, Vinyan locates its horror in the human heart of darkness.
