What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though fans of the event will likely enjoy X-Games 3D: The Movie, most will find it a poorly put together, skin deep, extended advertisement for the extreme sports competition.

Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: B Feb 18, 2012 Full Review Drew Toal Time Out Such dime-store philosophy, coupled with the running commentary from the Games' heinously Spicoli-esque announcers, ruins an otherwise gripping, in-your-face experience. Rated: 2/5 Aug 26, 2009 Full Review Adam Markovitz Entertainment Weekly Aside from unrevealing sit-downs with a few key players, X-Games 3D: The Movie is mostly an overlong demo reel of increasingly gutsy tricks. Rated: C+ Aug 21, 2009 Full Review Linda Cook Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) You might enjoy this oddball ESPN documentary about extreme sports including skateboarding, motorcycling and motocross. Mostly, I think, it's aimed at kids and/or extreme sports enthusiasts. Rated: 3/4 Sep 5, 2009 Full Review Andrew Wright The Stranger (Seattle, WA) A slick, fawning, shamelessly commercial puff piece that occasionally hits on an eye-popping image and just goes sick. Aug 24, 2009 Full Review Gary Wolcott Tri-City Herald The highlight is a contest of wills between three contestants of the extreme skateboarding of the Slam event. It is heavy drama worth the price of the ticket. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 22, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Went and seen this movie and loved it. Great sport shots and three D was awesome best three D movie ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a cool documentary with some slick looking stunts in 3D Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I wish I had seen this in 3D. The MegaRamp battle between Jake Brown, Danny Way, and Bob Burnquist was so sick. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This is totally worth watching just to see skateboarder Danny Way's five runs on the mega ramp. He crashes, breaks his foot, then comes back out and does 3 more runs on his broken foot--including another crash! It's not a comprehensive account of the X Games, but it does cover athletes in skateboarding, motocross, and rally cars. Some footage of other sports, but no profiles. I watched it in 2D because 3D is laaaaaame. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This is less of a movie then it is a recap. The 1hour and 30minute runtime drags on as you just watch footage from previous x games. The interviews are the only new thing but they aren't interesting enough to get you through this movie. The saving grace was watching the skateboarding footage, the jump over the great wall and the mega-ramp. But just remember if you keep up with the x-games every year, you're not seeing anything new. 3/10 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel that Ultimate X was a better Xgames film, but this one went more into the story of the journey and what it means to be in X. Great scenes and really good guys. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
