Birithivy Y 24 - 10/10. Suriya and Vikram Kumar teamed up to deliver one of the best sci-fi films in tamil cinema history with 24. A highly ambitious and highly innovative blockbuster film, Vikram Kumar pushed the envelope for ambition in the commercial cinema realm with this time travelling based action film. We've seen plenty of these films in Hollywood, but when it comes to tamil cinema, its rare we see a film like this. Netru Indru Naalai came out a year before this film, and did a splendid job of using the time travelling format. But this film, with its high budget and high concept, really utilize the power of the plot device of the time stopping watch. The VFX are outstanding, Suriya's performances are great, especially as the flamboyantly devilish Athreya. Samantha is okay as the love interest, while the cinematography from Tirru really captures a Hollywood'esque feeling within the tamil cinema constructs. A.R. Rahman's music is as iconic as ever, with great songs and amazing BGM to add on to the film. If Disney were to have made an action film in tamil, it would be exactly like how 24 is!
