This movie was pretty forgettable. The plot was atrocious. It wants to be good, the photography was good, the fight scenes were meh. It's an ok watch if you really have nothing better to do and don't want to think.

Ethan Hawke is fine in this. Not great, but good. The effects and action scenes clearly were well put together and they spared no effort on the effects. The story, sadly, was not that great, although maybe better than the trailer would lead you to believe. In many respects, this is similar to the movie 'Mile 22'. Hawke's motivations here, after a lifetime of being an asshole, seem suspect, although maybe no more so than John Cusack's baby-inspired conversion in 'Grosse Pointe Blank'. The sci-fi element seemed just plain lame, replete with embedded countdown timer ala 'In Time'.

This movie has a lot going for it. Good photography, acting, directing. They obviously spent a lot of money and worked hard to make 24 hours to live. The downside is the story, it is sort of uninteresting and sometimes kind of weird but it has some of the best action scenes of any movie so…
