Logan D @Greynomad38 May 15 An ape man finds an orphan in a subterranean world and is unable to get rid of the kid. A weird homage to silent cinema, this is a dark gonzo example of experimental cinema. Filmed in the tunnels, bunkers, and sewers located in the 2551 zip code area of Austria, discordant notes and atmospheric sounds saturate the story. All the denizens of this world wear masks which I was never sure if they could be removed or not. The ape man's is so realistic I wasn't sure if he was a man posing as an ape or vice versa. I loved the harsh identity of this film and the usage of grotesque images. I was unaware there is an entire genre of Austrian Abstract Cinema. I'll have to seek out more. An ape man takes a long and twisted journey to find a mysterious child. Just a visual feast for the eyes. Orson Welles and citizen Kane would be proud.
