kurtis h Just another one sided Libturd view of things. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review david f A good documentary with a jokey tone about the 2000 election recount fiasco. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Boring. Better than Ambien. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a one sided pathetic account of historical events. It even went so far as to reach and say if gore had been elected natural disasters such as Katrina wouldn't have taken place. It was a joke just like the producer is. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review stephen b Pretty relevant to today's circumstances. It gets a little lazy sometimes with some pop culture inserts not being from the time period of interest. Also, has that one guy who is just too intense to be interviewed for a documentary. All in all though it's pretty intriguing Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review wayne m 537 Votes is a timely look back at seismic political events in 2000. It digs deep down into the Presidential Election of that year. Thankfully it is also very funny, using late night TV pundits with great effect, interspersing their takes of the day into the very serious events. In 2000 the election was between Gore and Bush. Democrat and Republican. The election was extremely close and it eventually came down to who won the state of Florida. The film does a very good job of backgrounding. We see the Elian Gonzales case of the young Cuban boy and how the mostly Cuban community came to be both anti Democrat and anti Gore. The film looks into how the election was troubled by fraud and faulty election apparatus. It's a salient reminder of how fragile democracy can be. The film is razor sharp and concise and revealing. Dan Fienberg Hollywood Reporter Democratic Party operatives should definitely check this one out before November. Republicans probably don't need to. Roger Stone is still around. Oct 28, 2020 Full Review Ashlie D. Stevens Salon.com While imperfect, 537 Votes succeeds in making the tumult and social upheaval of 2000 feel fresh again, while also delivering additional nuance to the story that may have been lost over the last two decades. Oct 22, 2020 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com “537 Votes” nicely encapsulates the descent of politics into a blood sport where rivals are viewed as enemies, not opponents. Oct 21, 2020 Full Review Stephen Silver Splice Today With the exception of its overuse of late night comedy clips, it's an entertaining treatment of the 2000 Florida recount. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2020 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies ...537 Votes is a real reminder of why every vote matters even if the Supreme Court thought differently. Rated: 4/5 Oct 26, 2020 Full Review John Serba Decider 537 Votes is as slick and amusing as a real-life horror story gets. Oct 23, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
