      Critics Consensus

5 to 7 too often settles for rom-com clichés, but they're offset by its charming stars, sensitive direction, and a deceptively smart screenplay.

Bob L Seemingly 12 year-old Yelchin's Holden Caulfield vibe sabotages fine performances from the rest of the cast. It's dissonant to hear his monologues of life and what made him more of a man in a voice you expect to hear mention having chocolate milk after recess. It would be interesting to see this same premise made into a French film with a lead character capable of the sophistication and maturity required. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Audience Member I have never written a review for a movie before, but this film was so incredibly bad that I just had to! The storyline is uninspired and farfetched as they tried to make it as though this was the greatest love story of the century - which it wasn't as the plot didn't support this at all. So it literally made no sense at all as they jump from casual sex to soul mates with nothing of substance in between. Don't get me started on the acting! Both leads were not convincing at all. This film was so bad that we continued watching it rather than switching off to mock it and just to see how much worse it could get. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It could be sth really nice. But nope... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review renaldo d the director focused a lot on facial and body expressions through the angulation of the camera which makes something very different in the film, moreover "5 to 7" presents many funny scenes Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Victoria P This is my first movie review. I rented this on Netflix and cried my eyes out. This is a beautiful love story. Movies like this don't come around often. It's poignant and I would recommend it to anyone, even if you hate any romantic movie. Bring tissues! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/19 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) The fairytale aura is nourished by outdated yet timeless notions of Frenchness and Americanness, grand romantic fantasies in themselves. Rated: 3/5 Nov 5, 2015 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Though in many ways conventional, [5 to 7] is nonetheless emotionally engaging. Rated: 3/5 Oct 30, 2015 Full Review Cary Darling Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com The strong cast, a beautiful score, and a surprisingly affecting ending make it more convincing that it seems at first. Rated: 3/5 Apr 28, 2015 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound 5 to 7 is a film that totally flew under the radar, but hopefully will gain the fans it deserve via streaming services. Gems like this one really need to be seen. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 10, 2020 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie 5 to 7 will break your heart, mend it back together, make it sing, and then break it again. It's schmaltzy at times, the love scenes are shot too rigidly, and the concept isn't exactly novel, but Levin, a first-time director, makes a good impression. Rated: 7.5/10 Mar 14, 2019 Full Review Hugo Hernández Valdivia Cinexcepción The result is a comedy that pretends to emulate Allen...
