Benjamin Lee Guardian It's an acutely observed film about growing up and a set of understated performances add to the realism, while it's not quite striking enough to stand out from more familiar coming-of-age dramas, you'll believe every second of it. isla s This is a good film about a young Spanish boy passed from relative to relative (primarily passed to his previously not very present dad) to be cared for and how he reacts and responds. Its a sad watch - clearly his family are affected by poverty and seeing things through the young 10 year old's (or thereabouts) eyes is, well, eye opening. Its hard not to feel sorry for a number of people due to the circumstances they find themselves in. I suppose its somewhat of an insightful watch of sorts. I don't imagine for a moment it wouldn't be difficult for people like the young boy to settle in to the new family network he finds himself in and having to get used to being around his father, Gabriel. Its not a film that shies away from realities, certainly. Its perhaps a short but somewhat sweet film. I thought it was a decent enough watch but nothing especially great so as to set it apart from other similar films, though I'd still recommend it if it sounds of interest, as Brayan Santamaria does give a good performance as the young boy, Eric. This is very much a drama, a perhaps slow moving drama but a drama never the less - its not a film that'll have you laughing or cheer you up but it does what it does reasonably well, so its worth seeing for that.
