Audience Member interesting CONCEPT AND ASHTON GIVES A GREAT PERFORMANCE. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member the directing in this movie is horrific! the director sits in the seat next to him for twenty minutes of the introduction whilst he drives places. in movies, you're supposed to cut to at least semi-important scenes! also, showing him kill the man at the beginning debunked the entire reason for watching the movie! ridiculous job filming. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A slow burner with nothing happening. Rarely do I fee like a movie was a Waste of time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Uncle John is an interesting genre blend. Part crime/mystery drama, and part love story. Both genres work well enough here, but I found myself much more interested in Johns story, making it a bit irritating for me when the love story started to take up more of the running time. It also made it feel a bit uneven. However the film works because of a great lead performance by John Ashton, a fresh unpredictable script, and Steven Piets assured direction. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A small film. Tense and excellent. Something happens, but you'll never know why. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Could have been good, but the love story blew it, accompanied with the horrible HORRIBLE acting by Alex Moffat and Jenna Lyng. This movie was an absolute waste of time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune The movie's small, but Ashton keeps us watching and listening. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Rex Reed Observer The kind of polished, understated throb in the temple that gives independent, low-budget filmmaking a good reputation. Uncle John is meticulously observed and startlingly good. Rated: 3/4 Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times The two mostly unrelated stories culminate in a climactic crosscutting of sex and violence that borders on farcical. Sep 17, 2015 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin Here is a story about secrets and lies. Darkness is hidden under a guise of normality not just from the people in the periphery, but also from the main characters themselves. Rated: B Jul 16, 2020 Full Review Joe Bendel Epoch Times Ashton has worked steadily for years, but with Uncle he finally gets a career-defining role, flat-out knocking it out of the park with his quiet, slow-boiling performance. Rated: 4/5 May 20, 2016 Full Review Amanda Waltz The Film Stage [Steven Piet] has masterfully interwoven multiple genres into one tightly crafted, surprising little film.
