Giuseppe Sedia Kino Mania 80 Million is a quirky but solid caper movie set in the few days before Jarurzelski’s coup d’état. Despite being a heist film with no robbery, Krzystek incorporates the tried-and-tested rhythms and turning points of the genre. Rated: 3/5 Jan 23, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Very good movie based on a true story that happened in the context of the early 80's in Poland; the atmosphere of the film is characteristic of a time where you didn't know if one is a spy or a friend... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Bank withdrawal as heist movie. Interesting look at the times and a fascinating caper, but rather confusing as it's not entirely clear who masterminded the whole affair. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review david f '80 Millions' is an exciting thriller based on a true story that happened in Poland during the time of Soviet domination. The story involves a group of trade unionists who decide to withdraw their union's funds from a bank account before a Soviet crackdown freezes their account. It includes espionage elements such as surveillance, false license plates, hidden microphones, informers, and interrogations. The recreation of early 1980s Poland is impressive and includes tanks running through the streets and large demonstrations with thousands of extras. You may need to brush up on your Polish history to fully understand what is going on but the film includes enough tension to be enjoyable on its own merits as an unusual twist on the old bank robbery theme beloved of cinema.
