Rob Aldam Backseat Mafia A wonderful piece of cinema which is both surprisingly warm-hearted and bloodily brutal. Oct 15, 2021 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse Toshiaki Toyoda wrote and directed a film that retains, elaborately, a difficult balance between surrealism, comedy, and drama. His greatest achievement, though, lies with the conception of the characters and the presentation of their resonance Oct 6, 2019 Full Review Greg Muskewitz eFilmCritic.com Rated: 2/5 Oct 19, 2004 Full Review Film Threat Rated: 5/5 Oct 19, 2004 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I come back to watch this ever few years, it's such a unique story that follows 9 very interesting characters and their lives after prison and I've never really seen anything like it since. It's sometimes dark sometimes funny and often bizarre, it's quaint with melancholy undertones assisted by it's wistful accounting soundtrack. Overall it's a very human story on suffering, belonging and love and is well worth the watch for anybody and any age group from teen and up looking to explore hidden gems in Japanese cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member The screenplay and Toyoda's apparent talent in putting the right music in the right time is all good, but somehow it's missing something. I think the plot, the gap between their journey and their rediscovery is too sudden and contrived, but weirdly enough it's also still feel sad. It just needs a bit kick. The ending could be better, the key connection should be stronger. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Heartbreaking and wonderful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member suicidal captives: no point of escaping to jail if their interpretation of freedom is death. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member cool flick, had to buy it :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Pure Asian Trash, If your into having sex with animals this movie is right up your alley. Again TRASH TRASH TRASH. I would give it No Stars. But not sure it would show up on flixster. Had to shut off after 34 Min just wasn't something that I would enjoy watching. 0 Stars from me for the movie, 1/2 star for my time.
