Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 10, 2001 Full Review James Kendrick Q Network Film Desk loaded with everything that Chan’s fans were clamoring for, although there is nothing in the film that quite equals the sheer insanity of the first film’s Harold Lloyd-style dangling from a three-story clock tower Rated: 3/4 Nov 22, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy That rare sequel that nearly matches its predecessor beat for beat. Rated: 3/4 Oct 20, 2024 Full Review Michael J. Casey Boulder Weekly Chan’s on-screen fighting is a flurry of fists, tumbling bodies, and acrobatic feats. And since action has no language barrier, he and his stunt team became a worldwide phenomenon. Rated: 5/5 Oct 10, 2024 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The fight sequences are nicely orchestrated and mirthful, but too much time is spent attempting to flesh out all the interweaving character groups, causing tedious lags. Rated: 3/10 Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse "Project A: Part 2" may not be as great an action comedy as its predecessor, but is also a great movie, which provides much entertainment and more depth than its predecessor. Petros T Quite good but weaker than the first part, "'A' gai wak 2" is less action-packed and more plot-driven, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, however the story is presented in a rather confusing and slightly off-putting way. Also, although I'm not familiar with the politics of the film, they are not tackled very subtly. But of course, the main attraction is the action: Jackie Chan and co. deliver several outstanding sequences that are as suspenseful and visceral as they are creative and amusing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Matthew B Best of Movies/TV Series Collection Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review William L The remains of the pirate gang from the original film get suits and run around wielding hatchets? You can't tell me that's not the origins of the Ax Gang from Kung Fu Hustle. Feeling a bit more linear than its predecessor while dialing up both the action and humor, Project A Part II carries that classic, universal lone hero energy of the '80s but infuses it with some exceptional set design built from the ground up to cater to Chan's physical versatility. However, it's slow to actually get going and only allows you admission to the fun action moments if you sit through rather dull exposition or surprisingly complicated filler scenes, like watching ad breaks in a far tighter total film. A great film in small bursts and with a fun end credits behind-the-scenes montage featuring Jackie Chan musical number accompaniment. I am not sure why this was chosen to be part of the list, it was better than some Jacky's but certainly not among his best. The shenanigans were good though despite the weak plot and the cheese. It was on paramount. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this better than the original Project A movie. Story line was better. Action was more complex and original. Humor was better. Both are good but this was best. Too bad its hard to find online in the states Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A great sequel but not quite as good as the first.
