Steve D Leigh is the lone bright spot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Kyle J Given the time it was made it was a complex story and unusual choice touching on English prejudices and their wiley ways and disregard for Americans. Perhaps Sheridan was brash but he beat them at their game every time and was the winner amongst the ridiculously rude English people. A bit far fetched in its revenge...a parade and following as he's sent down from Oxford... would realistically have been sniggering at his fate in the common room. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Frances H What I did not like about this flick is that it made a point of presenting a college education and a chance to study abroad as something that was only of value in that presented a chance for the students to engage in sports and made no mention of the fact that the purpose of attending an institution of higher learning is to learn--to study, not to play games and show off one's physical prowess, but develop one's mental acuity. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/20 Full Review Audience Member The Ugly American alive and well in 1938. So full of himself and so prideful, American Robert Taylor embarrasses everyone in the United States by his actions. This is the plot written that had to be acted. The plot was poor, apparently aimed at only American audiences. But most Americans would cringe at the thought of someone so immature and brash representing them in another country. The premise is weak and the action which follows is downright silly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Good cast of characters. Passingly enjoyable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member great cast makes this taylor vehicle palitable Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine A Yank at Oxford" presents an English view of Americans, and an American view of Englishmen, and neither perhaps is strictly accurate. You may disagree with it, but you will find it interesting to watch. Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
