Synopsis
William Grant Still's opera, which remained unperformed for over 30 years after its composition, is produced here by Opera South, with the participation of college students from Jackson State College. Based on a Southern folk tale, the opera depicts a young idealist who finds himself falling in love with a mystical spirit. The Orchestra is the Jackson Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard De Paur.
