Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting A Classic Horror Story isn't targeting a specific era or title in horror to pay tribute; it wants to throw everything at the wall to see what sticks. It results in a bizarre, disjointed experience full of great imagery but confused story and messaging. Rated: 2/5 Jul 12, 2021 Full Review Charles Hartford But Why Tho? A Geek Community A Classic Horror Story delivers a by-the-numbers setup that eventually becomes something more. Rated: 8.5/10 Jan 16, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies We end up with a good-looking movie made with a hint of Hooper, a touch of Barker, even a dash of Shyamalan. But it borrows from/pays homage to A LOT of other films – so many that it’s hard to root out this movie’s own identity. Rated: 3/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Matt Hudson What I Watched Tonight Whilst never threatening to BE a classic horror story, this is nonetheless a solid and effective effort. Rated: 7.5/10 Jul 28, 2021 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an almost successful endeavor that just doesn't entirely work. Rated: 2/4 Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Katie Parker Flicks (AU, NZ, UK) An entirely serviceable, above-average attempt at something sort of interesting - but then, I suppose that wouldn't have made a very good title. Claudio C A Classic Horror Story (2021) An Italian Horror Movie with Potential of Cult-Movie (12,071 – 18 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In the South of Italy, the pregnant Elisa (Matilda Lutz) plans with her mother the removal of the baby (the AI of RT does not allow several words) she will be submitted in Calabria on the next day while waiting for her carpooling. She takes the van owned by cinema student Fabrizio (Francesco Russo) and is introduced to the other passengers, Dr. Riccardo (Peppino Mazzotta) and the couple of foreigners Mark (William Merrick) and Sofia (Yuliia Sobol) that are going to a wedding. When Elisa feels sick, Fabrizio pulls over the van and she vomits in the forest. When they return, Mark takes over the driving. Fabrizio offers beer to the companions and when Fabrizio sees a goat on the road through the forest, he pulls the steering wheel from Mark and crashes the van into a tree. Mark breaks his leg, and the group mysteriously wake up in the middle of the wilderness close to a cabin with no cellphone signal. Soon they learn that they are under siege of a dangerous group of worshipers of Osso, Mastosso and Carcagnosso, Further, they find the girl Chiara (Alida Baldari Calabria) without tongue in a cocoon of straw in the attic. Now they are trying to find a way out of the forest. "A Classic Horror Story" (2021) is an Italian horror movie with potential of cult-movie. The plot blends several slashers and clichés but works and entertains the viewer. The plot has many twists, some of them predictable but anyway turning the story to another direction. The acting is good and the conclusion unexpected. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): "Um Clássico Filme de Terror" ("A Classic Horror Movie") My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/25 Full Review nilufer e It was the first time that I watched an Italian movie and I believe I made a poor choice. It was okay for a slasher horror movie but it wasn't anything special. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review Melissa L It reminded me of "Midsommar," a movie I detested. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/25 Full Review Amelia A This movie is a lot of fun, especially if seen in the Italian original dubbing. The actors did a good job of conveying the regionality of the tale and of the main characters' origins. It's a fresh idea, developed in a way that mixes classic horror tropes and local folklore. It develops up to a nice twist, and leads to a meta ending (my only gripe with this movie has to be the ending, I get the spirit but there's something a bit unconvincing about the actual delivery, the themes are a bit too on the nose, the streaming platform not enough dark-webby). Side note: I couldn't stop thinking "she looks like a lasagna" when looking at the mayor. The writers should be proud. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/25 Full Review Pinoy Short R Sakto lang. Pinanuod ko to dahil sumikat ang Italian horror nung 70's at 80's. Medyo kinulang lang ng gore para maging ramdam pa ang horror. Di ko lang medyo na gets un ending Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Bat M Foreign people will not understand the true meaning of this little Italian masterpiece. Italian people are the real target here and they are the only ones that can get the messages that this movie wants to convey. Don't talk bad about something only because your simply-minded brain doesn't get it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
