The neon hues are so saturated, so rich, you almost want to swim in them. Go to Full Review

This is a sweet, sad film made with a delicate touch, and the sense of loss it engenders makes your soul ache. Go to Full Review

The film is steeped in sentiment (the sight of a neon sign near the end had me a bit weepy) but the statement it’s making is pretty clear. Go to Full Review

There’s no room here for nuance, for the long view of history, or for reasoned consideration of the other side. This is nostalgia with a purpose: are we on the side of light, or are we on the side of grayness. Go to Full Review

Sylvia Chang, impressing as a stubborn woman who is thoroughly disoriented by grief, is the heart and soul of the film in spite of its plain and sometimes unconvincing storytelling. Go to Full Review

Isabella N 02/22/2024 An account of what remains left of Hong Kong neon lights. If you've ever lived in the era of Hong Kong neon lights or you understand the history and craftmanship behind making them, which are almost non-existent, then you will find this movie nostalgic and heartbreaking. Neon lights are one of the things that represent HK, kinda makes me feel proud as a Hong Konger. Pretty much all shops signs are now made of LED, which don't have the same aesthetics as neon lights. Miss the good old days of my home country where life was still enjoyable/bareable despite the hardships. See more Read all reviews
