His music can reach anyone and send a message. Thank you Cudi. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a MUST SEE for both fans and non-fans of KID CUDI. It is an extremely well done piece of documentary art. I was so blown away by CUDI's courage and brutal honesty!! Cudi goes in depth into each album, song by song, discussing his creative process as well as what was going on in his personal life during the album's production. The addition of celebrities like Shia Labeouf and Jaden and Willow Smith is fantastic as well, getting insight into what a friendship/fanship with Cudi looks like. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE!!! Jude Dry indieWire Rarely do music documentaries transcend the conventional biopic form to appeal beyond its subject's existing fan base, but one hopes a filmmaker would at least attempt to surpass mere hagiography. Rated: C+ Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Lovia Gyarkye Hollywood Reporter [An] uneven, occasionally affecting story of an artist yearning for peace. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Chris Azzopardi New York Times "A Man Named Scott" is that rare musician-focused doc, one as sensitive, fully formed and noble in its intentions as Cudi himself. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Playing like a confessional of sorts, the film is an introspective treat for devoted fans while offering a deep-dive into broader conflicts between art and commerce. Jan 7, 2022 Full Review George Fenwick Stuff.co.nz Take it with a grain of salt, but fans will discover plenty of surprises here about Mescudi's upbringing, his rise to fame and his unique way of producing and recording. Nov 30, 2021 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media While it's definitely a "fan's documentary," A Man Named Scott is accessible to those who aren't the biggest fans and whose lives weren't saved by his music and lyrics.
