Jeff M To be quite honest, I put this TV movie on in preparation for a nap. I am one of those people who must have the TV on while I sleep. The title and description led me to believe that it was something that might work better than melatonin. But by golly if I didn't get involved in this thing, and I stayed awake throughout. I think what I appreciated most is that it was more Dickinson's story than Janssen's. He plays a very convincing alcoholic, but he is literally drunk throughout the WHOLE THING, so we don't get the opportunity to compare what he's like sober to enhance the drama. Dickinson will never be mistaken for one of the great actresses of all time, but she carries the movie and elicits our sympathy and true emotion on multiple occasions. She also has a convincing character arc, not always making the best decisions for herself or her family. Production values and supporting performances are what you'd expect from a 1970s television movie, but Dickinson makes it worth watching.
