Scott P 02/23/2024 I was an opiate addict for 20 years and this is by far the most accurate movie about dope ever made. Not only is it accurate but it's really good too. (ha ha) A Thousand Junkies is a surprisingly accurate portrayal of the junkie scene. It very rarely made me feel like I was watching a movie, which is difficult b/c I've seen all of the actors in other roles. It's smart, funny, insightful, and fun. Pretty much every scene is well-shot, with a great gritty eye for detail. Music might just be the real star of this film. I usually know every song I hear in a theater. ThiS soundtrack had me pressing pause, and looking up music I had never heard before. I love to hear deep tracks like this in a film. See more 08/15/2018 Very good rendition of what junkies go through. Sometimes all the dealers run out at the same time, or everything goes wrong. Been in situations like this 1000 times. For someone who hasn't gone through or dealt with anything like this, it's a window into a day in the life. It's captures it very well, and shows similar attitudes and thoughts that junkies go through. A lot of drug movies always seem to throw a lot of exaggeration into it and make it seem completely ridiculous. This kept it at the level of just right and completely realistic.
