The film survives primarily, however, off the lead turn by El Arabi, who shines as Zahira. It's a rather muted, understand performance, internalised and subtle, and one she pulls off with quite remarkable consequences.

Excellent movie overall. Unusually good acting. Timely subject treated in a subtle but uncompromising way. I give it four stars, but by my system, that's rare. So perhaps should be five stars.
