Lisa Laman Culturess From its superb ensemble cast to deeply striking examples of blocking to an emotional gut-punch of an ending, Aattam functions effortlessly as a captivating thriller and a vital, haunting portrait of how abuse of sexual trauma survivors takes many forms. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Jimmy Cage Jimmy Cage Movie Reviews (YouTube) AATTAM is a first-class, multi-layered and thematically pointed chamber play with a strong ensemble and that special grounding of Malayalam cinema. Rated: 8/10 Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Rohan Naahar The Indian Express Ekarshi performs a particularly deft sleight of hand, setting up a locked-room mystery of sorts, before revealing Aattam to be a far more ambitious project than he’d initially let on. Mar 24, 2024 Full Review Anna M.M. Vetticad annavetticadgoes2themovies Conversations on the all-pervasiveness of patriarchy and violence routinely draw this clichéd caveat from defensive participants: Not All Men. Aattam is a quiet reminder that ... the appropriate rejoinder often is: Yes, All Men. Rated: 4.5/5 Jan 18, 2024 Full Review Vishal Menon Film Companion The writing is consistently surprising with the film working both as an intricate study of the male psyche and an impressive thriller. Jan 4, 2024 Full Review S. R. Praveen The Hindu Anand Ekarshi’s film masterfully peels the thin veneer of progressiveness that men carry as a mask, and also shows how even the friendliest of spaces can turn hostile to women who dare to stand up for themselves. Audience Member Attam (2023) is a courtroom drama with a suspenseful twist, reminiscent of classics like 12 Angry Men. Most of the story unfolds within a single room, creating a tense and intimate atmosphere. The film is dialogue-heavy, requiring close attention to every word and exchange. If you’re not comfortable with constant dialogue, it might feel a bit overwhelming. The story keeps you guessing with multiple suspects, building up the suspense gradually. It ends on an open note, leaving viewers to ponder the outcome. The performances are natural and grounded, adding to the realism of the narrative. If you enjoy thought-provoking dramas, Attam could be worth checking out on Prime Video - India.
