Olivia P Abigail is a brilliant film showcasing the problem of bullying. The actors add to the weight of the story. Well-paced, directed, and written, this stands tall as a little film that achieves its goals. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review S.L L Ave Cantrell delivers an outstanding performance in the role of Abigail, marking her as a truly exceptional talent. Set in 1976, this gripping narrative follows Abigail, a troubled teenager, and her mother as they relocate to a quaint town in Alabama, aiming to leave behind Abigail's tumultuous history. There, she forms an unlikely bond with her neighbor, Lucas, a victim of relentless bullying at school. Intent on aiding Lucas in his quest for retribution, Abigail takes bold steps, but soon finds herself in a downward spiral. As Lucas uncovers the increasingly dark facets of Abigail's personality, the plot takes a perilous turn. Faced with a critical decision, Lucas must determine whether to remain loyal to Abigail or intervene to prevent further tragedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Ross W This movie was surprising, not horror though. It was more like a thriller with some horror elements. I didn't see the ending coming but after it kind of all makes sense. They seem like they set it up for a sequel which could be cool if the Abigail character becomes even more messed up. I love the 70s setting but maybe the next one could be 80s with them a bit older. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Janina C 70s! Great cast! Super fun thriller! ( biased review as I'm the costume designer) lol Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review PJ R You can always tell the family and friends of the film are the first to review. But not accurately. Had high hopes for this one after reading some of the reviews, but unfortunately would've asked for my money back. Interesting concept. I love period Pieces and horror however, this one failed on both sides. They did get the Wardrobe but not the hair not the sets. Definitely not the scares. The chemistry between Brown and Cantrell was lacking. It seems as if the Director was more interested in trying to achieve a 70s look then actually work with the young actor. The elements of the father were a distraction and pulled the viewer in a direction that made no sense. Cantrell playing a younger adults was a bit Unbelievable. she does have some chops, but this was an entirely wrong role for her. I'm not sure why her handlers would let her do a movie like this. Soundtrack not bad. applause to the music. It's hard to screw up the genre, but this is an attempt that falls far short. with so much content and so many things out there to stream steer away from this unless you've already seen everything else in the world Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Frank V Awesome movie. Ava Cantrell is a great up and coming actress. Hope to see her more on the big screen soon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
