Diego Semerene Slant Magazine Lee Isaac Chung's film exudes a wonderful sense of originality, a daring and organic playfulness rarely found in American indie cinema. Rated: 3/4 Aug 30, 2013 Full Review Farran Smith Nehme New York Post The tone teeters between delicate and affected, and there's only so much flitting around and soulful stares a movie can sustain before an audience starts wanting something more earthbound. Rated: 2/4 Aug 30, 2013 Full Review Manohla Dargis New York Times "Abigail Harm" tracks the lonely lulls and strange eruptions in one desperately uninteresting life. Rated: 2/5 Aug 29, 2013 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse The only thing that is truly worth here is the decaying beauty of the building the two protagonists meet and Plummer’s performance.“ Abigail Harm” serves mostly as a testament of how much Lee Isaac Chung progressed as a filmmaker in “Minari” Rated: 5 Jan 2, 2023 Full Review Jeffrey Overstreet Looking Closer It's committed to a strangeness I feel when reading foreign folktales -- more a cautionary tale than an inspirational story of what happens when we wish upon a star. Rated: B Feb 27, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Showcasing an exemplary lead performance from the consistently underrated Amanda Plummer, there's an intriguing offbeat rhythm to Chung's film. ronald h With its art house approach and lack of strong conflict, "Abigail Harm" will be an exasperating experience for viewers expecting to be "entertained" in the conventional sense. The film has virtually no plot, and it's incredibly slow moving. But Amanda Plummer is just magnetic on the screen. She's one of the least self-conscious actresses I've ever seen. She inhabits her character to the max, with nuance and subtlety. But great as Plummer is, be aware that this film is slow, almost challengingly so.
