TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 4 days ago Above the Line is a movie that took me through a lot of back-and-forth moments, but unfortunately, it never really connected for me. I kept looking for something that would make this feel like a film I genuinely wanted to sit through and watch, but instead, I found a lot of missed opportunities and a story that continued to struggle. I wanted the screenplay to feel stronger, but it constantly felt like it was searching for direction. The pacing also hurt the movie because it played such a long game that it ultimately made the film feel more boring than engaging. Instead of building toward something meaningful, it kept stretching things out without giving me enough reason to stay invested. I think there was a lot of development that was missed here. There could have been more done with the story, characters, and overall direction. Unfortunately, Above the Line struggles more than it connects, and I can’t recommend it. The premise is a fun and interesting idea but in execution it never quite lives up to that promise. Still there are far worse heist movies you could spend your time watching. If this lands on a streaming service you subscribe to and you’re in the mood for a relatively middling heist flick it’s worth considering. Honestly, I went in just wanting a fun movie night, but this turned out to be easily one of the funniest, darkest heist movies I’ve seen in a while.
