Abruptio is not simply a story of hacking, slashing, and exploding as it cooly critiques our notion of a moral compass, love, loss, and survival instinct while starkly reminding us that, just like real life, there are no truly happy endings. Go to Full Review

One of the most jarring movies to come along in a while, this gory sci-fi horror story is performed by grotesque but lifelike puppets, giving it a uniquely disquieting, disorienting effect. Go to Full Review

Abruptio is an oddity that fully commits to the weirdness of having an all puppet cast work within the locations as fully-human-pretending with full size everything. The film is surprisingly bloody, and the uncanny valley quality is spooky here. Go to Full Review

It's part thriller, part over-the-top sci-fi horror, part character study, and all the way strange. Not all of Abruptio worked, but I won't soon forget it. Go to Full Review

Whatever else you can say about Abruptio, you will not see any other film like it this year and that has to count for something. Go to Full Review

Evan Marlowe’s life-size puppet drama Abruptio offers up some interesting visuals and a handful of clever concepts, it just never manages to cut itself free from some of the genre’s biggest cliché strings. Go to Full Review

Erin S Aug 30 This horror/sci-fi film was just strange. I’m sure the film makers knew the life size puppet people would add an even creepier element to the whole experience. I’ve seen much gorier films, but the puppet people were just freakin crazy!!! See more Les N Aug 27 Well that was different! See more nilufer e @Nilicim Aug 23 While it was one of a kind, I didn't like the creepiness of the characters and the gruesomeness masked behind puppets. Yes it was creative but was it worth the time? Nope. See more Garry A @heavyg Feb 17 I appreciate the filmmaker's creativity. The puppets were creepy but cool. I didn't stick with it. There wasn't any real cohesion from scene to scene. See more Stoner J @Stoner Jan 21 Good review for it being soooo unique, great puppetry by far, and for an overall bloody ass good watch. Definitely not for pre 12 year olds and did not like them ending but was worth it for the sheer fun of it. I’d love to see another one like this but with a more intriguing delivery and ending for sure See more Mike R Jan 9 You will not see a similar movie anytime soon. The idea of life size puppets is unique on its own. Coupled with an absurd story line, this movie stand out from the rest. I wanted to enjoy the story more than I did. As much as I enjoyed the visuals including solid cinematography, the story went too far down an absurd path. In the end, most of it will make sense if you pay attention to the details, however, it makes the movie hard to follow and enjoy until the resolution. Highly recommended for people who seek out niche, unique movies. Not recommended for the average film goers. See more Read all reviews
