      Critics Consensus

Given the impressive array of talent involved in Absolutely Anything -- and the near-total lack of laughs it provokes -- this Monty Python reunion can only be regarded as a disappointment.

Regal R 74/100 - honestly a funny and pretty accurate depiction of what would happen if a human was granted powers. the dialogue was well written and executed perfectly. i wouldnt mind this being a tv series. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Rowan C Simon Pegg is great, however I would describe this movie as a perfect sunday afternoon movie. When nothing else is on, you could stick this on and not get bored. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review JS Imagine you have the power to do anything. It looks nothing like this film. The protagonist is the stupidest, laziest, and most insufferable twat you've ever seen. He has the power of god but spends most of the time not using it for the sake of inventing drama for this film to chew on. Every invented problem could be solved in seconds, but the audience is forced to endure watching this ridiculous man trudge through them after hamstringing himself for no discernible reason. It's a damn shame that the premise of the film poisons every character interaction because the characters are well acted and very entertaining. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Zola L Probably best watched after a busy night down the pub and shacking home with your equally smacked out/drunk friends looking for a desperate laugh or two. Other than that this is a pretty awful mess of a film with actors clearly hard up for an easy pay-day. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Jack S I liked it but I'm a fan of Edgar. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Nunya B Absolutely terrible. Completely wasted (and bad) plot, terrible humor, along with what feels like a very rushed ending. Nick Allen RogerEbert.com Treat-sized food-for-thought from a wonderfully silly director. Rated: 3/4 May 12, 2017 Full Review Stephen Dalton Hollywood Reporter Absolutely Anything is a good idea but is executed poorly, with a lame take-home message about great power demanding great responsibility. May 8, 2017 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) The redeeming factor is the sheer, unabashed silliness. Rated: 3/5 May 8, 2017 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Absolutely Anything may be a bad movie, but I laughed a lot, and really, that's what Jones and company set out to accomplish. Rated: 3/4 Apr 4, 2022 Full Review Phil W. Bayles One Room With A View Eric Idle always tells us to look on the bright side, but it's hard to see a bright side to this depressingly unfunny movie. See absolutely anything else. Rated: 2/5 May 4, 2019 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) Jones's cult status ensures a decent cast but the execution is messy, short of laughs and tiresome.
