Audience Member Fascinating earlier Egoyan film (my favorite of his) - weird, haunting, strangely funny. Great performance by Maury Chaykin. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review R 9 It's a bit of a bizarre one, but I did really enjoy 'The Adjuster'. Words aplenty I do not have, it's just simply a very good film. The music is, in my opinion, its standout feature, as it sets the tone incredibly well - the sense of trepidation throughout is super. Elias Koteas is an excellent lead, though Arsinée Khanjian and Maury Chaykin perform just as strongly. There's a lot to take in, but it is very much worthy of your time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/23 Full Review Silvio In my top 25. I think it nails late capitalism to the wall in a funny, disquieting and cerebral manner. Not for everybody. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/20 Full Review Audience Member now this one was frustrating; i've got bits and pieces swirling around in my head but no interest to piece 'em together. to borrow a phrase from someone, it was "weird for weird's sake". my least fave atom egoyan. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It looks like Egoyan is not for me. I see the world he creates or rather the vision of our world he shows on the screen. I get the message about us being alienated and lonely, without any attachment or link even to each other or the reality really. It's just that I don't feel it. This vision in the way he pictures it doesn't get into me. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh my Lord! This was a mess from start to end! This is a movie with uninteresting character, absurd (in a bad way) circumstanses and a gloomy atmosphere to top it all, just to make us think that we 're watching a David Lynch film in search of something familiar and actually great. This feel like it is Egoyan's "Matador". A dark film made by a future auteur (I haven't decided if Almodovar is actually one) who is still finding his voice and fails miserably at every turn. But at least in "Matador" there was a murder mystery to keep us reeled in! In this one the characters have their obsessions but they are not explored well enough in order to give us a good picture of their perverted nature. The film wants to show a broken, strange family that basicaly commits suicide with their everyday routine. This could have been done in a short film and we could have skipped all the turds of sequences that are found in this film. Sadly this is a bad film. Rated: 3/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting [The Adjuster] is a haunting meditation on the struggle to connect to others; characters are instead caught in a cyclical baptism of fire, role-play, mediated video, and shimmering memories of violence.
