Robert Abele Los Angeles Times The basic story's narrative and psychological simplicity - characters stating their beliefs over and over again - becomes an increasing burden. Dec 22, 2014 Full Review Charles Bramesco The Dissolve A film that could only succeed by sorting through gradually darkening shades of gray works exclusively in embarrassingly bold strokes. Rated: 1.5/5 Dec 15, 2014 Full Review Odie Henderson RogerEbert.com A substandard "crime drama" that reeks of the Idiot Plot Syndrome. Rated: 1/4 Dec 12, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Filled with convenient turns and easily attainable avenues of retribution, the film ultimately seems like an archaic example of the dangerous follies of patriarchy. Rated: 1.5/5 Sep 19, 2019 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue There are hints along the way of the socioeconomic strife that Klein wants to explore, yet they become lost in a muddled screenplay that doesn't establish sympathy for its protagonist or his plight. Dec 31, 2014 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Fall isn't going to cure the world's ills, but it does define a few of them to satisfaction, creating an engrossing journey into extremity without ringing all the obvious bells on the way down. mark g People being overly harsh, not sure why. It's a pretty good film. The New Mexico bleakness plays well into the bleakness faced by Bentley's characters, a dad who has lost his job and is struggling to support his family. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Emaleigh T I think After The Fall had a great storyline and the film production was creative, but the end of the film felt unfulfilled. I felt as if Ben got off with a slap on the wrist. I think the story could've been furthered at the end. The foreshadowing and the symbolism within the film was creative. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It's by far the most boring movie I've ever watched. The actors are not convincing in the roles and I'm certainly not sympathetic to the main character. He is so wrong for this part If you want to be bored out of your mind then watch this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I think Bentley's role was created to ask the question, "How far would you go to maintain appearances for yourself and your family?" But what could've been rich in meaning is played out in a trite way. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member After the fall has an intriguing story I thought this movie would’ve been something like falling down a cinematic classic. But it’s not. The performances are pretty bland for the most part in the movie just doesn’t have enough excitement. The robberies are pretty bland and do not generate any excitement. It’s funny how it takes Police forever to ID this guy yet he does robberies in some places without a mask on. The cinematography was decent and the ending left of you guessing but the overall movie could’ve been better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/21 Full Review Audience Member ***Spoilers Ahead. Most definitely*** After reading the movie description I had high hopes for After The Fall.I was hoping for a Falling Down type of movie or something like that.I even wanted to at least like the movie but I didn't like it at all.It started out interesting enough but after 10-15 minutes it became almost..... boring.I don't know why I didn't turn it off & watch something else.I think I was thinking maybe it would get better or I just wanted to see how it would all end. Some of the stuff Bill Scanlon did was so stupid I couldn't figure out if he was trying to get caught or he was just a complete nutjob.1 thing I do know, he was a lucky guy.He becomes friends with a detective who use to know Scanlon's father while he was on the force. The detective figures out Scanlon is the robber but instead of busting him, he lets Scanlon know they're after him. When Scanlon decides to turn himself in, the detective tells him not to Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
