Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Subpar Laurel and Hardy comedy, as it lacks freshness and the material is too thin for a feature. Rated: C+ Aug 24, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Imagine a laurel and hardy movie with no laughs , here it is. To add to that scenario , we now know the original funny script was adjusted by a military power that be, leaving us a pleasant period comedy. Positive side: an actual story , no silly involvement w a young couple and their aspirations . World War Two audience surely must have enjoyed it. Negative side : as stated above , no laughs , poor direction, and a list chance to stir it up with Edgar Kennedy . Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review darin c A forgotten film for the most part due to L&H not given liberties to their previously proven technique, but it's still Stan and Ollie! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Stan and Ollie are bankrupt businessmen who are recruited to become air raid wardens n their hometown. They experience a series of misadventures that include wrecking the town's gymnasium and sending the influential banker to the hospital during an air raid drill. When they learn their new business partner is a German spy they prevent a nest group of German spies from blowing up a defense plant during a town civil defense drill. This was toward the end of their career and was not one of Laurel and Hardy's better efforts. There was too much dead time and it would have worked better as a short film rather than a feature, but it does have its moments. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Heartbreaking speech from Stanley in the middle. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member good WWII wartime drama Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie starring this classic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. This is one of the last few films this duo starred in. The story has Laurel and Hardy volunteer as air raid wardens for their town during WWII. But they soon discover a Nazi plot to blow up a munitions plant. Laurel and Hardy are very funny in this. The story is silly but fun. The gags and jokes are typical Laurel and Hardy. Most of the duos comedy shorts are much more funny than this film. But I still got some good laughs watching this film. If your looking for a good old comedy then check out this film.
