robert p Do not watch, you have been warned that this movie stinks to high Heavens! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie has some appeal but it falls short for being intellectually lazy. Writing such as "something that is worse than a wish is a wish granted" is too glib. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A tectonic plate shifting wonderment. Oscar winning Noam Jenkins and Darren Shalavi steal the show once again with this sensational twist on the classic tale of Aladdin. Mario Azzopardi is this century's Alfred Hitchcock, producing scenes that are the jigsaw pieces of a once in a lifetime masterpiece. Noam Jenkins reprises the role of man monkey Abu in a way that only Jenkins is capable of pulling off. Several years prior to filming Jenkins was tipped off about the epic release of the sensational blockbuster and began to save shavings of his own bodily hair. On the first day of shooting Jenkins turned up to the set with a full body suit of pubic and facial hair glued to his naked body. Phenomenal commitment. A performance rivalled only by Shalavi's Aladdin who really carries the narrative as well as delivering what is considered by many as the greatest action scene of all time - Aladdin vs Henchmen 2. Carlos Henriques hits the dick on the head once again producing the most real to life special effects the world has ever seen. A particular scene that sent shock waves through the ages was the iconic emergence of the evil genie from his cursed lamp. Screams sounded through my living room as my family cowered in fear "WHAT IS THAT MONSTER ARRGHHHH" "It's in the room with us! IT'S HERE WITH US!" Outstanding. The story overall was magnificent complimented by an incredible soundtrack featuring Denise Albrighton, Wesley and the Bunglemen and the unforgettable Crotchticklers Defined. A solid 9.8/10. Mario Azzopardi, we ache for a sequel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it from start to finish minus the award quirks that come from watching a SyFy original tale, this was an interesting one. Sort of like a dark tale into Aladdin's history. Speaking of which, a completely different Aladdin in its entirety! But it was awesome and had an interesting plot twist on genie's, it take a page out of the Wishmaster series. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member More similar to Indiana Jones than Aladdin, yet it's rather good for a TV movie, even if it has flaws at times. Not the best acting from everyone, but the characters do work, and the story, while stretched and overdone, is entertaining. Decent creature effects. Wears out before the end, but it holds out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Aladdin the adventurer and his friend Ali accidentally uncover a lamp that contains a genie. But unlike the story we know, this genie does not grant three wonderful wishes. This genie destroys everything in its way by turning the keeper's thoughts into living nightmares. After witnessing the death of his fellow adventurers when the genie is released, Aladdin and surviving friend Ali turn to the village elder to uncover the history of the lamp, only to find the evil Shahir has been following them, hoping to take hold of the lamp and fulfill his own diabolical plans to have unlimited power. Aladdin, Ali, and Shifa, daughter of the elder, have no choice but to find the antidote to the lamp. The trio soon discovers there is a map that leads to an ancient magic ring, the only source that can destroy the genie and send him back to the hell from which he came. When Ali falls under the spell of the genie, he turns on his friends, and Aladdin and Shifa are confronted with the terrible realization that they may have to destroy their friend along with the ring. ~ FT Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
