After an acclaimed, extended run on Broadway, comedian Alex Edelman brings his solo show JUST FOR US to HBO in an all-new comedy special. In the wake of a string of anti-Semitic threats pointed in his direction online, Edelman decides to go straight to the source; specifically, Queens, where he covertly attends a meeting of White Nationalists and comes face-to-face with the people behind the keyboards. What happens next forms the backbone of the shockingly relevant, utterly hilarious, timely, and only moderately perspirant stories that comprise JUST FOR US.

With his first HBO special, the writer-comedian disarmingly balances satire, straight comedy, and old-fashioned pathos. Go to Full Review

A comedian to watch, Alex Edelman could expand upon this moment and create a series that would last for years. Now, though, “Just for Us” is one that can fuel countless conversations and great admiration. It's a keeper. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, the show wants us to be as hopeful as Edelman, while also reminding us that sometimes we need safe spaces to simply exist. And we sure need a lot of hope right now. Go to Full Review

Ken K Dec 6 He's not as to the bone as Carlin nor as belly laughing hilarious as George, but he hits enough high notes to make it well worthwhile. Ironically, his best social meditations are less about the white nationalists, and more about his observances about growing up and being Jewish, and what that meant/mean to him. He very artfully weaves interesting digressions into the main event. His take on Hanukkah, from a Jewish boy here of the jealousy of the Christians and Christmas was so right on. See more David F Jul 2 Wow. This performance is unbelievably funny and impeccably put together. There’s a bigass laugh at least once a minute and exactly zero filler / downtime. This dude is so young, so original, and so talented! He’s gonna have a helluva future. It’s thoughtful and it’s hilarious, and Alex absolutely kills it. See more Nolan M 11/23/2024 That was rough. Seemed like the type of special I would enjoy — intellectual observational humor... I just didn't find it particularly funny See more B M @GlenFord 09/22/2024 Brilliant! So many things beyond great comedy and stagecraft...will just say prepare to be stimulated and entertained. See more davidson i 05/10/2024 didnt laugh once, not sure Alex wants to be a philosopher or comedian??? he fails at both delivering boring monologues and weird style mimicking Seinfeld See more Gerry G 04/30/2024 Maybe the best comedy act I’ve seen in years. Alex Edelman had my wife and I rolling in laughter for 85 minutes. See more Read all reviews
