Richard Freedman Newhouse News Service Aloha Summer remains at heart a sappy beach movie that misses out on only one cliche of the genre: Nobody gleefully announces, in English, Japanese or Hawaiian: "Surf's up!" Rated: 1/4 Nov 6, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Erik M A beautiful simple movie about growing up and brotherhood Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I personally like this movie very much when I saw it as young adult at the time. I've always had a fascination with Hawaii and being mixed race child i could relate to the culture issues explored in the movie as well as the rite of passage from youth to adulthood.. Yet it was also very fun and the camaraderie between everyone seemed real. I recommend watching it if you can find it. i wish it was available on dvd.
