What prevents Alpha from being a slick, smart spy thriller — which is clearly the intention — is that old YRF weakness: the writing is borrowed and stale, reminding us of numerous films we have seen before. Go to Full Review

Its action, much like its humorless dialogue and sudsy interpersonal relationships—and yes, even its standard-grade nationalism—is polished to a uniformly satisfying sheen. Go to Full Review
Anupama Chopra The Hollywood Reporter India Jul 3, 2026
At the end of my War 2 review, I had suggested that perhaps women will save the day for the YRF universe. They don’t not because they aren’t good enough but because they aren’t given the right narrative ammunition. And that is the THR bottomline. Go to Full Review

Director Shiv Rawail's half-hearted diversion from the male-dominated genre means to give the girls their due but only ends up failing their cause in a generic, lacklustre actioner. Go to Full Review

Alpha also is about bodily autonomy, the selfish choices men make for women, and the importance of a happy childhood. And within a blockbuster setting, those ideas are new. Go to Full Review

jisha G @RT13058389 1 day ago After watching Alpha, my thoughts were like it wasn't worth the hype. I mean everyone did a brilliant job and bringing back Kabir was peak moment and all, but I felt that the story was weak. Though the some twist weren't predictable but the story the twins separated by birth. I think this has become very old, I think I would rather prefer that 'Durga' was Ruhi character(in War) Sita would be more like misleading kid misled by adult for his selfish ambition. Her journey finding truth , as both Ruhi and Sita become friends and bond with eachother. Sita becoming from "I don't care about you" to "you are the only person I could turn to". Showing strong and soft side of both characters. Bobby is back, he looked so cool in the entire. Since the story centers more on Sita , I think Fateh's backstory was understanding. I feel the story was focused more in action than emotion, which is why is seemed like it lack any emotion. But I guess that was my thoughts. Now people are get tired of same stories, please try to create something unique and unbiased. See more DeamBrooks T @RT09868177 5 days ago Entertaining but a basic assassin action movie but with female leads. The script was basic with some funny (ironic) moments. Pretty much guessed the twist in the first 5 minutes but definitely enjoyable when you don't know what to watch and want some si-fi action. See more Rajshekar T @RT62846179 6 days ago My family really enjoyed this movie. It's packed with action and emotion, and the locations were fantastic. It had everything we were hoping for, and we were never bored for a single second. Honestly, we wish we'd caught it in theaters instead of watching on Netflix. See more faha Q @RT88543821 Sep 2, 2026 Honestly, the movie feels like another unnecessary attempt to portray Pakistan and Pakistanis through hatred and hostility. There is a difference between showing conflict, politics or terrorism and portraying an entire nation as the enemy. The storyline also feels unrealistic, with far too much action and many scenes that simply don’t make sense. Instead of making the film more convincing, the excessive action makes it feel exaggerated and disconnected from reality. Filmmakers have every right to tell stories, but repeatedly making movies that fuel hatred between two nations is disappointing. Ordinary Indians and Pakistanis share so much in culture, language, food, traditions and history. We don’t need more films teaching people to hate each other. Please stop glorifying hatred and unnecessary violence. Make films that are realistic, meaningful and promote humanity rather than division. 🕊️ See more Akanksha P @Popcorntalks11 Sep 1, 2026 Alpha is a fun, energetic spy thriller that knows how to deliver big screen entertainment. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari bring plenty of intensity, and the action has a strong visual punch. I especially liked seeing a female led story take the spotlight in the YRF Spy Universe. Not perfect but definitely an enjoyable watch with some memorable moments. See more Read all reviews
