For all the grimness and desperation on view in Mango Yellow, the characters emerge as robust, full-dimensional people in touch with their explosive feelings. Go to Full Review

A glib evocation of urban malaise, flirting with situations of sexual loneliness ... without mustering up a single substantive notion. Go to Full Review

there is so little invested in these characters that you don't really care. unfortunately, MANGO YELLOW is just a pulpy morass - sometimes sweet, until you start chocking on the seeds Go to Full Review

Lúcio Leonardo P 08/25/2024 Entertainment that is very bold, crude and grotesque in its denunciation, but that fails in its narrative. It has admirable characters, who we want to know more about, but it makes mistakes in the interaction between them. It has a lot to say, but little that the eyes can see. Too much yellow for not enough mango. See more Daniel G 08/16/2024 Very satisfying slice of life film of a run-down, realistic Recife in the early 2000s, with a documentary aspect and some top acting. See more 11/02/2020 Mango Yellow is a film that brings the reality of the poor people in brazil. The naturalness of brutality and primitive instincts with the absence of morals or ethics as a collective conscience. This is a result of the lack of state for the people. There is no basic sanitation, low education and what counts is the law of the strongest. Mango Yellow brings the reality of marginal Brazil in all aspects. Away from tourists or, sometimes, very close. See more 04/18/2014 The "truth-owner" director Claudio Assis tries to put his blood-soaked fingers on the audience's faces, but he fails in his trying of portraiting the filth he himself believes as right. See more 04/03/2011 some moments of brilliance and moments of absolute abhorrence. a movie that one doesn't "enjoy" but watches and takes in and leaves feeling a bit depressed and dirty. the only character i really liked was Ligia...the barmaid.
