When the king of Sylvania abruptly abdicates the throne, the sneaky prime minister (Gustav von Seyffertitz) starts running the country from the shadows. Amid the chaos, Ambassador Bill Harper (Will Rogers) from the United States arrives, at which point he becomes friends with Paul (Tad Alexander), the absent king's 8-year-old son. While Bill is hoping to establish commercial relations with the Balkan nation, both the prime minister and another American diplomat try to prevent this.

It's a troubled little country. When he arrives, they have only had one revolution that week! You can tell this movie was crafted just for [b]Will Rodgers[/b] style. It gives him excellent opportunities to lampoon governments and the stupid things they do. It also, shows how well he interacts with youngsters, and his rope tricks was a highlight of the movie for me -- he was fantastic! It's reassuring and sad to know that the government in 1931 was just as screwed up as it is today. Catch this one if you can. I think most will be surprised at how well it still plays in 2008.
