Roger L A witty take on middle American culture and the comedy of human miscommunication masterfully done on a low budget. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Joni L This was a tremendous romantic comedy! To this day I still laugh all the way through, enjoying all the fashion, France, romance and Jo Beth and Tom are perfect. Critics need to get a grip - I think having a woman get her way and out of a marriage was a little edgy in 1984 but not now. Love it Rebecca Ryan! Remake it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Sharon D A fun, fast paced escape movie. Reminds me a little of the old comedies of the 30's and 40's. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/17/23 Full Review Amber S Still one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. If you don't like this movie there is something wrong with you and your sense of humor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/23 Full Review Christopher R Makes me chuckle. A good fun mystery adventure. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/23 Full Review Audience Member So you see its all men on the reviews. If you are a woman particularly over 50, you will remember a time when romantic novels were everywhere. Women of every age and status were scarfing them down. This trend even moved me off mysteries for a few years (his hot breath on her tender thigh, ha) This movie will make you scream with laughter while poking a light-hearted finger in the eye of the genre. I have to say it's not my favorite movie alone, my husband loves it as well and will pull out the cd and watch when he needs a laugh. I wish we could buy it digitally. Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) Doesn't hold many surprises. May 11, 2007 Full Review Matt Brunson Creative Loafing Williams has been just fine in co-starring roles or as part of ensembles, but she struggles mightily to carry this heavy-handed comedy on her shoulders; still, she's better than Conti, whose miscasting is a perpetual distraction.
