Reece Pendleton Chicago Reader if you can get past the cutesy mugging and preening onstage, you may find the true creative talent refreshing. Feb 2, 2010 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News American Harmony is a successful greatest hits compilation of top-level performances of recent years; but that makes you want it to be so much more. Rated: c+ Nov 19, 2009 Full Review Sarah Bryan Miller St. Louis Post-Dispatch The documentary gives too brief an introduction to the basics of barbershop and doesn't tell us how most of the singers got hooked. It does capture the intensity and the personalities of the competition -- and it makes us care who wins. Audience Member A simple but fun documentary about the World Barbershop Quartet championship. There's some amazing harmonies and really enjoyable quartets. It shows the work you have to put in & the passion you must have to become great at it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe it's my leisure studies interest, but this was really interesting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A wonderful look into the world of barbershop singing and boy is it heartfelt and true to life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved it although I would have liked to have seen the chorus aspect also. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member For those who compete in any capacity this is an amazing look at what it takes to win at anything: Talent, hard work and passion. The talent in this documentary is breathtaking considering these singers are "amateurs". I cannot reccomend this doc highly enough. Do yourself a favor and watch it today! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member OK, confession time: I sing in a chorus (not in a quartet presently), so I love barbershop harmony. Aengus James and his cameras cleverly caught the spirit of this American art form on this DVD documentary. Particularly enjoyed the overall high quality for this "budget" movie. Reproducing an a cappella performance electronically requires some pretty decent equipment, and Aengus did us justice. Enjoyed the movie so much I watched it back-to-back -- second time with director's commentary, and all the way to the end of the credits! Proud to be a barbershopper.
