Ben Kenigsberg New York Times A slick and skillful debut feature from the writer-director Tony Tost. Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast A sluggish and monotonous country-ified neo-noir that fails to innovate and, worse, to utilize its magnetic leading lady and her capable co-stars. Aug 13, 2025 Full Review Tim Grierson Screen International Americana wants to present forgotten everyday people who possess endearingly unusual traits. But Tost’s writing is not sharp enough to allow his characters to rise above their mannerisms. Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network While some will not be as enthralled by Americana, they will be impressed by Halsey, Zahn McClendon, and the prospect of the talent on display from Tony Tost and what he will make next. Rated: 8/10 Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Andrew Parker The Gate It’s more of a good time than a great movie, but in these lazy, waning days of summer when original, quality entertainment tends to be in shorter supply, Americana is a welcome change of pace. Rated: 7/10 Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Jesse Hassenger Paste Magazine Tost gives his talented cast above-average dialogue for this sort of thing. It may take a while to feel certain that he’s on the level, but the movie is more sincere than smarmy. Rated: 6.7/10 Aug 14, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews
