Audience Member Jeremy irons is somehow super under appreciated . No one plays a rich snobby person better than him, honestly can’t even think of a close second 3.1 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/12/21 Full Review toby h An Actor Prepares fails to deliver on a good but well worn roadtrip premise. Irons clearly enjoys playing the larger than life actor role, but the story plods along, never gaining momentum. Prepare to be underwhelmed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An actor prepares is a cute little movie. Jeremy Irons seems to be having a lot of fun playing this character and I always enjoy Hollywood satires. The film does feel a little cheap and low budget though obvious use of green screen. The script is funny but I think it could’ve taken it to the next level as far humor goes. The concept and performances are good but I do feel it’s missing that next level. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/19/20 Full Review Audience Member Found it very funny and humourous Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Frances H Cute re-connect of larger than life Dad with his remote son on a cross country road trip full of quirky characters. Pleasant fun film and Jeremy Irons is just great (when has he ever not been great?). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/02/19 Full Review Audience Member Seems like Jeremy Irons had a good time making <i>An Actor Prepares</i>. That's nice for him. I myself, did actually enjoy it more than I expected to by the end, even if the whole "Son accepts shitty dad by virtue of having to spend time in the same immediate vicinity as him" is a trope I absolutely loathe. It's not great, I won't recommend it, and I won't come back to it, but I did laugh a couple of times, and hate it significantly less than I thought I might. Matt Fagerholm RogerEbert.com The characters are so off-putting that our time spent with them quickly devolves into an endurance test. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 31, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Irons is clearly overjoyed to have a chance to break out of Serious Actor mode and have some fun at the expense of the master thespians he has had the chance to observe. Rated: B Aug 31, 2018 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times One keeps hoping director Steve Clark, who penned the script with Thomas Moffett, would plot a few unexpected turns along the way. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Charlotte Harrison VultureHound The film feels like it's trying to satirise by saying it is a satire without actually doing any satire. Rated: 2/5 Jan 28, 2020 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Jeremy Irons is clearly having a ball playing an incorrigibly irresponsible actor in this road movie comedy, but as his boozy, self-absorbed rogue crosses the US with his sober-sided son it's unlikely that viewers will have nearly as much fun. Rated: 2/5 Feb 1, 2019 Full Review Sarah Cartland Caution Spoilers A witty road trip with detours and performances that know when to push and when to retreat. Irons has great fun as lecherous, scarf-flapping thespian Atticus, with Huston a good counterweight as his po-faced, mansplaining feminist son. Rated: 4/5 Nov 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
